Find the perfect bird bath to attract your favourite birds

Bird baths serve two purposes for birds.  One is bathing, and the other is drinking water.  If you provide a water supply in your yard, you will attract a greater number and variety of birds.  But before you choose a birdbath, take note of their preferences, as birds can be picky.

A birdbath should be at least a foot across. Birds like a bath that has gently sloping sides with a rough surface to provide safe footing.  They won't just jump in.  They wade until they find the depth that satisfies them.  There should be a deep end of about 3" so the birds can splash around and play.  If you install some form of dripping water, even better, as many birds are attracted to the moving water.  Keep it filled on a regular basis and the birds will become regular visitors.

It is especially important to have water available in the winter.  To keep the water from freezing in cold climates, you may want to consider heated bird baths.  Never use salt or antifreeze in a birdbath, as these will harm the birds. Place your birdbath away from low shrubs to reduce the danger from predators and clean it on a regular basis.

You can purchase bird baths and heated bird baths from the vendors listed below.
