How to make your birdbath safe for birds  ....

A birdbath is a great way to attract birds to your yard but it is also a great way to attract other creatures as well.  Some of these creatures such as butterflies or dragonflies might be more welcome than those of the furry four-legged variety.  If cats, raccoons and squirrels are scaring birds away from your birdbath, a hanging bird bath might be the ideal solution.  Here are some other issues you might want to consider as protecting your birds from predators might simply be about the placement of the birdbath in your yard.

First of all if you are using the traditional birdbath which is usually a disk or bowl mounted on a pedestal, the best thing for you to do is locate it as far away from trees, porch stairs or picnic tables as possible.  This prevents raccoons, squirrels and cats from being able to sneak up on unsuspecting birds.  If this is not  the answer then you might consider buying a hanging bird bath which can be hung from its own pole or in a section of your yard that is less friendly to predators.

If you are looking for a wrought iron pole, a hanging birdbath or a simple pedestal birdbath, the following sites are great places to find both contemporary and traditional birdbath designs.
